Official Tourism Website of the Municipality of Piraeus

For solo travelers

"Alone is powerful," as the saying goes.

In your case, it's also a unique opportunity to explore the city of Piraeus on your terms and adjust your schedule throughout the day as you please.

A few suggestions:

  • See the city's museums, the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus and the Maritime Museum of Greece.
  • Have your coffee at the Zea Marina, or at Pasalimani. If you want more privacy, try one of the cafes in the city centre that have courtyards.
  • Walk around Mikrolimano with its moored sailing boats and fishing boats - an idyllic scene especially at dusk. You can combine the walk with food, coffee, drinks.
  • Explore the beautiful district of Kastella and enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the hill of Prophet Elias.
  • Enjoy the sunset at Aphrodite Bay, in Piraeus. All around the area there are shops for ouzo and snacks, or food.
  • Feel the unique aura of the city by exploring the traditional food markets with fresh vegetables, fruits and fish, delicatessens, herb shops and local products from all over Greece.
  • If you are coming for tourism in the summer and you are interested in the performances and concerts, choose the ones that interest you in the Veakeyos Theatre programme. All other seasons the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus is open with interesting theatre performances, concerts and other events. It is worth a visit anyway, as it is the most beautiful neoclassical jewel of Piraeus.
  • Stroll through the shopping with clothes, accessories, jewellery in the city's pedestrian streets. In the bookstores you will find, among other things, interesting albums and publications about Piraeus.
  •  Ideal nearby options for swimming are the beaches of Votsalakia and Freattida.
  • Nightlife in Piraeus is ... a glorious field of glory and a chance to meet people. Bars operate late into the night in Pasalimani, Trouba, Mikrolimano, the centre. As you will see they cater for all tastes - and more!
